The summer is here which means the squad will be gagging to go away..."for a laugh."

Among the top holiday destinations will be Ibiza, Magaluf, Ayia Napa, Kavos and Zante. Each as wonderful as the next.

Booking the tickets and deciding whose room you're going to stay can be easily sorted. Deciding how you're going to manage the situation with your girlfriend can be trickier.

That's where Goodwin Smith comes in.

This may seem obvious but make sure you tell the poor girl. Pretending you're going sightseeing with the rents is never a good idea. "Yeah, I'll let you know when we get to the Arc De Triomphe. I can't wait to see the Louvre." The best policy is honesty. Yes, there will be other girls there but it's a lads holiday, not a singles get away. Explain that she has nothing to worry about and offer lots of reassurance.

Perhaps the worst thing to do is to go off the radar for the week you're away. Social media and WhatsApp is there for a reason. Don't ignore her. That's not to say constantly bombard her with messages while you work your way into a stupor each evening. Drunk texting is never appealing. Send her pictures by the pool or at the beach having a few. Take it easy though. You don't want to make her jealous.

Make it clear to the lads that it still does count if you're in another country. That you plan on being faithful to your girlfriend while you're away. That doesn't have to mean you must lock yourself away in your room but your good mates won't be encouraging you to cheat.

It's understandable to miss your girl but to spend the entire holiday pining over her will become irritating for all those around you. It's important to have a good time and to relax. It will do the both of you good. When that tray of shots appears in front of you don't cry and say, "Oh god, Charlotte always loves doing shots." Just get stuck in and don't worry so much.

Last but not least, if anything does happen with another girl (or guy) then tell your girlfriend. Be honest. You may think it's better to lie and hope it'll go away but it won't. Social media will inevitably throw something out in the future that will reveal all which will result in you getting fucked over.
